Wedding portraits painted from your photograph

A wedding portrait painting turns one frame from the day into an oil painting you can hang. Couples send us the photograph their photographer delivered. It comes back as a painting, six weeks later, ready to frame.

What they sent us
An autumn weddingOil on canvas

The couple sent one frame from their photographer's gallery. The painting keeps the light of that afternoon and loses the parked cars behind the trees.

A dog in a flower collar is exactly the kind of detail a painting is for. Every petal in the bouquet was painted by hand.

Special moments, painted in oil

Not every photograph worth painting comes from a wedding. Anniversaries, milestones, an evening that turned out to matter more than anyone expected. If the photograph means something, it can be painted.

Painting, or photograph

People look twice. That is the point. A portrait painted well sits close enough to the photograph to catch you, then close up it gives itself away, because paint behaves like nothing else.

Close detail of a hand-painted oil wedding portrait, showing individual brushstrokes and thick dabs of paint in the autumn foliage.
Foliage, at close range. Each leaf is a separate touch of the brush.
Close detail of a hand-painted oil portrait showing brushwork and ridged paint texture in the bark of a tree.
Bark, at close range. The ridges are paint, not photograph.

No print sits underneath any of this. Every canvas is worked by hand in oil, layer over layer, by one artist over several weeks.

A custom painting as a gift

A hand-painted oil portrait is one of the few gifts that has no shelf life. It is not consumed, replaced, or outgrown. It goes on a wall and stays there, and it is the only version of itself in the world.

What makes it work as a gift

It is made from a photograph the recipient already loves, so the sentiment is theirs rather than yours. One artist, one canvas, several weeks of work.

What it costs

Between $1,900 and $2,500, set by canvas size and level of detail. Half commissions the painting, the balance after you have seen it finished in photographs.

How long to allow

Six weeks from the day we have the photograph, guaranteed, plus shipping time to the destination. Worldwide shipping is quoted before you pay anything.

Occasions it suits

Weddings and anniversaries, a first home, a milestone birthday, the arrival or the loss of someone who mattered. Anything where a photograph already carries the weight.
